About Us
The Passion behind Miller Soccer Performance

My name is Nick Miller. I am the owner/founder of Miller Soccer Performance. I am a soccer coach, physical therapist, and certified strength and conditioning specialist in Lancaster, PA who is passionate about helping youth, high school, and collegiate soccer players reach their goals and potential.
After growing up in Lebanon, PA and playing for PA Classics Academy, I went on to play Division I soccer at University of New Hampshire. During my time there, I also gained experience playing semi- professional soccer in the NPSL and PDL leagues at Seacoast United.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION
-
How long will it take to see improvement?Typically players will start to see improvement in their technical/physical performance within 2-3 months of consistent training with MSP. Overall, progress will depend on dedication of the player to work independently in addition to with our trainers. The level and age of the player will also impact progression.
-
What will a typical session look like?A typical session with MSP depends on the specific goals, strengths and weaknesses of the player/s we are working with, as well as the age and skill level of the players. Sessions can be customized to address specific goals (i.e technical development, strength/power, speed and agility, or combination of all of these) Typical Technical Training Session: For our general session framework, we spend the first 15-20 minutes focusing on the fundamentals of the game including juggling, ball mastery, running with the ball, striking the ball, and first touch and passing. After the fundamental warmup, we transition into more fast paced and game like dribbling, passing pattern, and finishing drills. To finish the session, I typically like to perform a position specific drill that applies directly to situations the player will experience at the position they play in their games. Each session I will ask the player if there is anything they would like to work on during that session to make the training as player led as possible. I will address any requests during that session which allows players to work on skills/situations they may be having difficulty with during their team practices and games. Due to my other experiences/education, I also enjoy and am always happy to include speed, strength/conditioning, or injury prevention activities into sessions as well if desired/requested!!

How frequent should my child/I do this type of training? In the offseason, we recommend training 1-2x per week or at a minimum every other week. In season, we recommend 1x every two weeks to 1x/month during lighter weeks for continued development without overloading the player
-
Is individual or small group training more beneficial? Both types of training have their own unique pros and cons. Individual training allows for the most possible repetitions in a training session and allows us to completely tailor sessions to the individual player’s needs. Small group training allows for the inclusion of some smaller sided drills where we are able to include competing against other players or with live pressure that we may not be able to replicate in individual sessions.
-
How do I pay for this training?Payments can be made via cash, check, Venmo, ApplePay, or Paypal
-
Does my child need additional training?Hiring a trainer can be a tough decision for a variety of reasons including time and financial commitment and it is important to make sure that it will be a beneficial choice for all parties before starting. If your child does not want to participate in this type of training, please do not push them into doing it no matter how difficult their current playing situation may be. This this typically leads to only further burn out and leads to unenjoyable sessions for the player and the coach. Burn out is a huge issue in youth soccer, and while we do everything in our power to make our sessions fun, confidence building, and relaxed, I believe it is important to make sure you have an honest conversation with your child about their feelings toward soccer and trying personal training before beginning. Individual training is great for players who love the sport, may be struggling with confidence, have high aspirations, or just want to be pushed to reach their fuIl potential. If your child loves the sport, spends extra time outside of team practice practicing or playing for fun then I believe they will really enjoy training and will see great results

Is this training more important than my/my child’s club training?Individual/small group training needs to be supplemental to a player’s team training. While we do our best to replicate game like scenarios and speed in our training sessions, players need to be able to take what they learn in these training sessions and apply them to game scenarios with real pressure and speed for the best progress. Club training will also provide players with important tactical coaching and learning experiences, game experiences, environment for competition, and ability to play and learn from other peers.
